Atrios, and why bi-partisan discussion isn't the same thing as mushy centrism

Apparently Atrios doesn't think much of our enterprise.

Here's how I responded:

Take a look at the site. We're not about mushy Broderish bipartisanship. We recognize that democracy involves disagreement, that there are real choices to be made, and that there will be winners and losers in all of this.

What we're about is trying to get away from the echo chamber that is so much of Web-based political discourse. So we're trying to offer the best political thought from across the political spectrum -- and giving people from across the spectrum the chance to give *their* own thoughts, as well.

It's a place to mix it up -- but respectfully, if that makes any sense. It's very much an experiment to see if we can still actually have political discourse in this country, instead of lots of people shouting past each other.

So like I say: Give it a look. If you don't like it and want to make fun of it, go ahead. But wait to mock us until you get past your false assumptions.
