McCain: Let's stay in Iraq 100 years

I'd be remiss if I didn't post McCain's support of a 100-year war:

McCain likens the U.S. troop presence in Iraq to missions in South Korea and Germany over the last half-century.

Big difference, though, is that those missions were established after, not during, a shooting war.And as Matt Yglesias points out, "it plays very very very poorly in the Arab world for American leaders to run around talking about 100 year occupations of Iraq."

It might play poorly in the American world, too, because our guys are likely to keep getting shot at as long as they're over there. And as I've said before: We're paying for this with the national credit card. That's simply not sustainable.
