Why McCain shouldn't be president

The best evidence comes from The Corner:

McCain actually suggests strongly that he would have gone to war to remove Hussein — even knowing that the WMD were not there. In his new book, Hard Call, he writes that his own view is that even without the WMD, "Saddam still posed a threat that was best to address sooner rather than later."

I can accept when people say that they thought Hussein had WMD and thus needed to be removed. I don't agree, but I can accept that reasonable people thought so. But to say that the invasion would still be justified in the absence of a WMD threat -- especially in light of how truly difficult the war has turned out to be -- suggests a dangerous level of hawkishness.
