Another thing about Clinton ...

If she wins the presidency, I don't believe she'll get a second term. Four more years of "Billary" will probably be enough for everyone. Hopefully by then, the conservatives will get their act together and nominate someone with a consistent and substantial record.

McCain, Where is Your Honor?

Back in 2000, the Bush campaign spread some nasty rumors about McCain in South Carolina. McCain, who had been ahead, lost that primary, and Bush went on to win the nomination. McCain was widely known to be bitterly angry about the dirty tricks that cost him the nomination.

So ... in 2008, what happened? Florida was too-close-to-call between McCain and Romney, his closest rival. And McCain falsely accused Romney of wanting to cut and run from Iraq. Basically, he resorted to the same kind of dirty trick that he had objected to in 2000.

Huckabee the Spoiler

A year or so ago, when K-Lo at NRO started going on about Romney, I emailed her that Romney would never be the president, because there was no way that the Southern Evangelicals would support him. I think it's worse than that - I think the only reason that Evangelical Huckabee is still in the race is keep Mormon Romney from getting the nomination. How sad for all of us.

About me ...

My political leanings are socially conservative and politically and economically libertarian. What that means is that I believe in tradition and right and wrong, but people are free to make what I would consider to be foolish choices - they just shouldn't expect me to protect them from the consequences.

I'm a law librarian. I have a JD and an MLS. I like books and ideas and follow politics pretty closely.

Democrats debate: You know you love our live-blogging action

That's right. We're live blogging again this evening. There will be no scotch for Joel -- instead he has purchased a beer that tastes like scotch! It's true!

Enough drinking. More politics. Please join our conversation!

Joel 8:43 p.m. CST: Debate’s over. What did we learn?

money,money,money

Dear Joel,

Boxcar is not quite dumb enough to "fix" currency to anything.

The RedBlue reviews are in. Can you help us?

There's a couple of reviews of our Web site today, and this seems like a good time to get your input on our project here.

At the Seattle Times, Mike Fancher points his readers our way. He does more explaining than reviewing, but does offer this bit of support:

Is there a middle place in a time of hyper-partisanship? I hope so.

Britney Spears: Better treatment than our Iraq veterans?

I can't but help contrast this bit of news...

Britney Spears was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday and escorted to a hospital by more than a dozen police officers. ... TMZ has learned the plan to get Britney into UCLA Medical Center had been hatched for days -- it was aborted last night, but executed just minutes ago. And we're told the plan was so intricate the FAA had cleared airspace in route to the hospital.

Obama needs the Latino vote

I believe the Latino community's support of Hillary Clinton is the one thing standing in the way of Barack Obama becoming the Democratic party's nominee.

Within this demographic, Clinton outnumbers Obama in voters nearly 2:1. States with large populations of Latinos, like Nevada and Florida, are the states where he has proven the weakest. Time is running out and Obama needs to reach out to this community and give them a few reasons he would be a better candidate for them than the New York Senator.
